Guest guest
Hello, My daughter is 20 yrs. old and diagnosed with ASD/Asperger; she's currently attending Whispering Pines and will be graduating next June 2012. I've been slowly trying to open my daughter's eyes to the outside world and want her to become more independent but have gotten little progress. My daughter's therapist suggested an Assisted Living Program for her. If I'm not around then I'm sure she would develop and be pushed into doing things to help her grow. My daughter is not confortable with change any change in her life will be just too much for her. I know that when she's home its her safe haven but I that I have to try. If I'm not around then it might be better for her. Could anyone please send me a list of the Assisted Living for young adults on the spectrum or if anyone knows someone who resides in one I would like to hear their story and outcome. As a mother I"m torn between keeping her at home and letting her go; but if I choose to keep her at home I know that she won't evolve and I know she's cabable of a lot more. Thank you , I look forward to hearing from you.
