Guest guest Posted December 12, 2007 Report Share Posted December 12, 2007 Osteopenia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osteopenia), or osteoporosis is fairly common in those with Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis. I don't know that you've ever stated if you have IBD. Osteopenia is also common in those on long term steroid use, which is sometimes necessary with Crohn's, UC and other conditions (like asthma). I think there are more than a few members that has experienced this. One of the annual tests I have gotten is a bone density test to assess changes (none, so far). http://www.psc-literature.org/osteo.htm has a list of many abstracts on the topic.
