Guest guest
Ok, I apologize if this is a dumb question. I keep hearing about " flares " . What exactly does that mean? Does that mean that you only have pain/burning at certain times and other times you are pain free? I am uncomfortable all of the time. It does not come and go for me. My symptoms are burning and pressure all of the time, it even feels like I have to urinate sometimes when I don't really have to (weird, I know). During sex, the burning is 10 times worse and I have to use lidocaine gel. Thank you, > > >Ladies, > > > >Well I have been told, though I already knew, that I have generalized > >vulvodynia. Guest guest
Hey ,Yes, as you get better and the symptoms calm down, then usually we deal with flare-ups or setbacks (meaning the pain worsens for awhile then lightens up). I know exactly what you are talking about. I walked around for years in a constant flare up. The first thing that really got the constant pain to settle down for me was antihistamines. I took over the counter Tavist (they don't make it anymore). I took it every night (cause it made me sleepy). It helped me sleep through the night better (I have been diagnosed with IC too) and it helped the overall irritation calm down (from Mast Cells). Do not think for one moment your questions are dumb! We all learn from one another. I hope things settle down for you soon. As for the bladder issues. That is so typical with vulvar pain. The vestibule and the bladder are made up of the same tissue and often women can have issues with both areas. I know I sure have. Like one isn't bad enough. *sigh* Hang in there, though, and keep telling yourself that you'll get this under control. "Hope" means everything when it comes to dealing with pain! Take Care,Chelle
