Know what I like best about the lion brand site???? They have

awesomely easy free patterns **and** give you a supply list **and**

if you want to, you can purchase the yarn you need for a project and

it comes in DAYS! I like some instant gratification.

As an example, I am doing their baby blocks throw right now and plan

to do their unsquare baby afghan - 2 of each - for both my grands for

Christmas.

And you are correct; crochet is extremely portable. I always have

more than one project going on so if one becomes " too much " to go

with me to the doctor, well, I just take another one!

I subscribe to there site so I get there newsleters. I can crochet a little but

I've been knitting off and on since I was4yrs old. My grandmother taught me. She

learned during WWI when the kindergartener had to knit scarves for the soldiers.

Different grades had differend jobs to do to help in the war effort.

My daughter is a lefty and learned in Fashion class at school. It has been a

great thing as she makes baby blankets for herfriends expecting babies and

scarfs for her other friends.

This year for christmas, I made sweaters for my 2 nieces and one for my

grandson. He loves Elmo and I couldn't find any Elmo clothes. I took an elmo

doll and copied the features into a red sweater I was making for him. He likes

it and has worn it several times.
