Guest guest
I am so sorry for the late reply, Annie. Our lives are in crisis (again) & I am running on empty -- brief update on that, hopefully, to the group to follow (as the crisis allows... actually, I don't have time to sit & spit). Crisis aside ( & I mean this with all my heart), you are more than welcome to e-mail me at maureeniebeaniebobeanie@... if you'd like to arrange a chat, seriously, anytime. North San Diego County? It's likely, then, that you're very, very close to Jim's & my home town of Encinitas. Jim & I would be honored to help you/your son in any way we possibly can. Jim & I have had manymanymany positive experiences with (hepatologist, gastroenterologist) Dr. Pockros of Scripps Green/Torrey Pines. He is brilliant, but also a caring, gentle, humble, kind man, & he considers himself, Jim & I as a three-way team. He provides Jim's colonoscopy every 24 weeks, as he's a vigilant stickler about Jim's risk (not only as an immunosuppressed post-transplantee, but also given his history of UC dating back to 1984). I don't know about you, Annie, but I just love it when brilliance & bedside manner are right up there, tied at the tippy-top. :-) As a matter of fact, Jim saw Dr. Pockros just yesterday, as he underwent colonoscopy after a 2-day clear diet-cum- halflytely cleanout. (Yum) We have other doctor recommendations, too... we've assembled quite a team with whom we're extremely pleased. Just let me know what kind of specialist you're needing? Hope this helps, Maureen (wife of Jim: UC & elevated LFTs '84; PSC '96; LRLTx # 36 on 12/7/01 at USC in CA; donor son doing well; post-tx incisional hernia surgical repair 1/03; multiple post-tx skin cancer issues presenting 18 months out; sporadic post-tx UC issues -- which means Jim sees his dermatologist every 90 days & undergoes colonoscopy every 24 weeks; in learning curve for future possible colectomy?); NO LONGER ecstatic empty nesters, but still-delighted doters to grandsons Stryder & Indiana, & granddaughter Leia, who was born 11/29/07... update to follow, as time -- & current family crisis -- allows.) Request for San Diego GI, Hep and hospital recommendations My son recently married and moved from Los Angeles to North San Diego County. Now almost 35, he was diagnosed PSC/Crohn's July 98. Was on various meds and maybe 3 years ago was taken off all meds and has 6-8 Remicade infusions annually. Only had the initial Crohn's flare at diagnosis. PSC diagnosed by ERCP. Has had 2 of those and an MRI to monitor PSC over the years. At this point, he will continue to see Los Angeles GI for checkups, colonoscopies, etc. Lab tests and Remicade infusions will be done in San Diego. There may come a time when it will be better for him to have local San Diego doctors. I would really appreciate it if anyone has had positive experiences and can pass along names of doctors and preferred hospitals. Thanks so much, Annie
