: does you son drink a lot of sodas (diet ones by chance?). Has there been any change in his diet with increased sugar or MSG, aspartame etc?

, my son started to do that at 26 months, after that and by suggestion of his therapists I took him to a pediatric ophtalmoligist.  He has been wearing glasses since then... he is now 5.

Might be that he gets tired, or that he is trying to focus his eyes a little better.  My suggestion: take him to a pediatric ophtalmologist, no an optometrist.

One possibility is that it may be a tic. Blinking is a common one. However, it also could simply be that his eyes are dry or bothering him.Clara-- Sent from my Palm Pixi

Is it tic-like? Are there any other behaviors? Did any OCD behaviors recently begin as well?If these are new behaviors and/or appeared to come out of nowhere, do some research on PANDAS and obtain the name of the lab tests. This is to rule out a medical condition first.Another thought if you can rule out medical first is to address anxiety. For my son, (and I'm not saying this is true for your child but it's true for my son) is increase or restart giving cod liver oil. My son's anxiety appeared to increase and we noticed he wasn't getting cod liver oil for a couple of months. We added it back in and his anxiety improved. Sent from my iPhone

My daughter did the same thing years ago and it could be assorted things. Have you had his vision checked? It could be a behavior. It could be a sensory issue - what is the lighting like around him?, or sounds, or too much tv/video time. She did it I believe because the world was different - faster that way and she stopped when I would dim lights, turn off computers, tv etc, put on music or put on her earphones. Then she recvd glasses a couple of years after that and I had the transition lens put in so there is less bright light from tv/computer screens, outside etc. She now loves picking out new glasses. Good luck. Cheryl

What are the behavioral differentials between normal eye blinking and in this

circumstance if so. Is the blinking strained such as for instance muscles appear

more contracted in order to blink then a normal blink.

When my daughter was 5 (9 years ago) she started blinking out of context. It ended up to be seizures.

Thanks everyone..my son is non-verbal so i can't ask him if he has headacha or anything. He has no problems with music (he loves music) or TV and he doesn't have OCD,he has no interest in computers. he's been taking risperdal for 5 yrs and he's not on the GF/GF, he was long time ago but didnt see any difference. he's a happy kid and very social, but it might be 2 things since someone gave some opinions, either he's having vision problem or anxiety. could TIC comes any time? The blinking eyes happen anytime, either he's running around, watching TV or riding the car etc, but sometimes he stops. But i do know that his dad and the family wear glasses and i have the Dr's Appt tomorrow so i will ask him to send him to a specilist and i will let you guys know..thanks for all the help. > >> > Hi everyone, > > My son is 8 yrs old with autism and i've noticed that he's been blinking his eyes for almost 2 weeks, its not constatly but he does blinking every so often, does anyone knows what's this is? or anyone has or had this experience? i'm taking him to hi primary Dr this thursday but wanted to see if any one can give any suggestion.> > thanks> >>

There could be many reasons for your son's blinking poblem. Anything from change

in diet, change in medication, or change related to using computers, television

or starting school may cause this. Eve if you don't see an obvious injury to the

eye, or any foreign objects in his eyes, you may want to consider a vision check

with a specialist. My son had a bit of a vision problem that caused blinking

and eye squeezing (squeezing his eyes tightly closed). We took him to a

developmental vision specialist who found that he had a vision problem and

needed bi-focal glasses.

If your son is at all verbal, maybe you can ask if his head hurts or his eyes

cause him a problem. Good luck.

been through that before. I never discovered the cause, but eventually he stopped doing it.

Hi everyone…

My son stopped completely the blinking eyes and since he’s

non-verbal and has behavior issues, I think it was another behavior issues. In case

the blinking eyes comes back, then I will definitely take him to the specialist,

Thanks for all your support…
