Gosh, pregnant horse urine! I had no idea! Wow. How'd you hear about that? I can't believe I've been putting horse urine on me....... Maybe I should request Estrace. I'm wondering though, do these topical estrogen creams have any side affects to someday have birth defects or fertility. Speaking of which, my husband has suggested us going to a doctor to try and help us get pregnant because obviously intercourse is a challenge.

Re:Premarin - Tina

<<<<<<Is anyone or has anyone ever been on and used Premarin (Estragon Cream) I don't find it helping much.>>>>Tina,This is my opinion, but I disagree that all estrogen bases are the same. Premarin is synthetic - it's made from pregnant horse urine. Estrace, on the other hand, is bioidentical, meaning your body cannot distinguish it from what your ovary produces. I haven't used Premarin, and I won't. I have used Estrace for the past 3 years. It has helped my vulvar skin tremendously. Not every woman with vulvar pain will respond to estrogen used topically in the vulvar area. My 'skin' was in bad shape when I began using it. It was red, very irritated and even getting tiny tears. After a few months of using topical Estrace, my skin healed up and it now feels much better. It's just better that we educate ourselves... most docs are clueless about female hormones. Hope this helps some....Chelle

yeah, looking again right now, it doesn't say it has estradiol. What does estradiol do? When I first started Premarin, it was in fact a little soothing until recently. I've read on here that some creams build up your skin to make it thinker and healthier. That is my goal to, not to do the oppisite. Maybe I should request Estrace but the two Dr.'s that I have presented it to have had that response, one of which is Ledger that I mentioned earlier that I have seen in Janurary. It seems like no Dr. has really helped concretely

Re:Premarin - Tina

My Estrace has alcohol in it too, but oddly enough, it's never bothered me. But some have Estradiol (the type of Estrogen in Estrace) compounded in a soothing base. We have a good compounding Pharmacy listed in the Database. Take Care,ChelleI looked this morning at the ingredients of my Premarin and it looks like it has a lot of alchool in it.

Thank you for the insight. It seemed kind of overtaking at first when not knowing. I think I'm going to ask for Estrodial or is it Estrace, I forgot. I hate pain. This 4.5 year journey is sure a long one to go through.

Re:Premarin - Tina

Tina,That's why it's called Premarin - PREgnant MAre uRINe.I used estradiol (a tiny amount topically) throughout pregnancy and my specialist said it's safe for breastfeeding as well. Many women use estrogen during breastfeeding as the hormonal changes can be drying even to "regular" women without vulvar issues.Melinda

Tina,It's a pain trying to research and learn all of this stuff...but it can be very helpful! Estradiol is the main ingredient in Estrace cream (brand name). If Estrace causes any irritation (due to inert ingredients) then you can have Estradiol compounded in soothing base (emu oil). Does this make sense? Again, I've used Estrace cream with no problems, but it just depends on the individual. Take Care,Chelle
