A Report from the National Longitudinal Transition Study 2 (NLTS2) A Webinar from AUCD’s Council on Research and Evaluation Date: Tuesday, September 21, 2010 Time: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDTRegister for the Webinar About the Webinar The NLTS2 study documents the experiences of a national sample of students with disabilities who were 13 – 16 years of age in 2000 as they moved from secondary school into adult roles. Find out about the employment and postsecondary experiences of youth with disabilities. Find out how to conduct secondary analysis of nearly 10 years of data including high school coursework and academic performance, as well as post-school outcomes such as postsecondary education, employment, independent living and community participation. Target Audience: · State Directors of Special Education · AUCD Directors · Researchers and Evaluators working with high school and transition programs Speaker Cameto, PhD, has more than 30 years of experience in special education and more than 15 years of experience conducting research. Dr. Cameto has experience designing and managing national longitudinal studies across disability groups and ages. She is co-director of the National Longitudinal Transition Study-2 (NLTS2), a 10-year study following a cohort of youth with disabilities ages 13 to 17, which is documenting their experiences and outcomes as they age. Dr. Cameto came to SRI International to work on the first NLTS, after a policy internship at the U.S. Office of Special Education Programs. For NLTS, she authored reports on the use of adult services, transition planning provided to students receiving secondary special education, and factors associated with students going on to postsecondary education. ________________________________________________________________________________ The visual portion of the webinar will be conducted via GoToMeeting and the audio portion via telephone or VoIP (requires microphone and speakers).
