Guest guest
Hi All, I want to reintroduce myself, it has been years since I have posted on this board, but drop into read the post often. I am 36 years old, I was diagnosed with UC in 2000, PSC in 2001. I had a wonderful pregnancy in 2002. My colitis was put into remission in 2001, and had been in remission until the last 2 years. My PSC has been unremarkable, labs were up and down, but have been consistently low for a while. I have always had a little URQ discomfort, but in October, it became much more consistent and intense. My GI ran the normal test put me back on prednisone for my UC, and found that I have a blockage of my portal vein, they found a small dark area in my liver. The liver biopsy of the area came back inconclusive. So on to the Cleveland Clinic, for more test, I have an ERCP scheduled later this month, I am really hoping for some relief and answers to what is going on. Can anyone shed some light on the causes of PSC pain? I know that mine is different because of portal veinblockage, but what is the general reasoning, if bile duct blockage is not the problem. Guest guest
I'm not sure what happens but I was told by one doctor (can't remember which one) about something called viseral hypersensitivity, which means that the sac around the liver could be more sensitive or something and when the liver is enlarged it can cause pain. I know that my liver and spleen are both enlarged and think that's what causes a lot of my pain. Especially after I eat because then my stomach expands and puts even more pressure on the area. Gosh I hope that makes sense, lol. PSC 8/07 PBC 10/
