Guest guest
My husband has PSC, for 11 years now. He has been having repeat ERCPs on an annual, sometimes biannual basis since he was diagnosed. Now I am questioning this as good practice or not? What is the thinking on this and whether or not it actually minimizes strictures or causes them to be worse because this can be looked at as an irritant? I read references to the long timers, those that have had this disease for many years. What are you doing? Who is your doctor? would love any feedback. Thank you. Guest guest
My hepatologist will not recommend ERCPs unless there are symptoms (URQ pain, elevated LFTs, cholangitis, sepsis, etc.). This is fairly typical, but some heps will do routine ERCPs. I agree with him, having developed pancreatitis on 2 of 3 ERCPs (no fun at all!). I see Dr. C. /M. Boldt at MNGI in Minneapolis.
