Guest guest
Unfortunately not all kids on the Waiver or Waitlist qualify for PCA. To get PCA the caregiver and the doctor must prove the child needs assistance with Activities of Daily Living. Even though my son needs assistance with ADLs, since he needs prompting and some physical assistance he was denied because he does not need complete care. Also the doctor has to fill out multiple forms which many are unwilling to do. There is no reason not to try and get it, but just know that not everyone gets it. Hawk - CRPS If you want to change things, get involved-especially with this group. None of us can complain from the sidelines. It is a direct line to what is going on at the state level, and that concerns all of us. PCA’s can be for anyone who qualifies for the med waiver-why wouldn’t you think it wouldn’t be for kids with Autism? What gets me is why wasn’t the information disseminated to the families that wait list kids who are on Medicaid get this service. Something is better than nothing, and I don’t know who wouldn’t benefit from access to this change. Sherry --
