Need Recommendation for a Good Advocate in Broward County

Went to my first IEP meeting. My child was placed in a full day Place program

(5 days a week) and given speech therapy twice a week. I did not have an

advocate with me at the meeting, but want someone to look over the IEP to let me

know if something is missing or if I should fight for more services. I did not

sign the paperwork they gave me because I told them I would be having an

advocate look at it. Any suggestions for a really good/experienced advocate

would be appreciated. Dont know if it matters, but I live in the Coral

Springs/Parkland area.

Our advocates are wonderful, if I do say so myself. :) Give me a call to get the process started.

Good afternoon! You have two great resources in Broward County for advocacy services. One is FND (dear Robin I don't have your number handy right now please provide to this parent) and the other is UCP with . Both are sister agencies sliding scale fee. You also have other great private advocates around. You can look for Cammarata at Reveresco, not sure how much she charges burt she us great. And she is in Coral Springs. And others. It is good that you aren't signing the papers if you feel you get to have more support to see and learn what is best for your child.I wish you the best of lucks! And the most important wish the best in your childs highest good! Something in this e-mail that really disturbs me is that we no longer sign IEP's

in Broward. What you sign at an IEP meeting nowadays is an attendance form.

This just reinforces the fact that the District completely controls what goes

into an IEP regardless of what a parent feels or says. The only recourse is due

process, which is long odds.
