Guest guest
Welcome to the group April! You do have to be committed to the diet. But the surgery gives you a little bit more control. You can't indulge or you'll get sick! I was tested today. We had a luncheon for work at the country club. Fried chicken, ham in some sort of sweet glaze, carrots in what seemed like some sort of glaze, green beans, bread, cheese cake, coconut cake, squash casserole, salad, pasta salad, and mashed potatoes. I had 2 carrots (baby carrots), a couple bites of green beans, a few bites of ham, a couple bites of the squash casserole, a few bites of chicken (with the skin peeled off), and a couple bites of mashed potatoes. I was happy w/ that. I was full. :-) I was worried about what I would eat; but it turned out fine. I didn't over eat. In what time it took me to eat what little I ate everyone else had woofed down the salad, the meal & their dessert!! W 380/293/160 April Kendell wrote: > I'm April. My hubby had RNY bypass Sept 25. Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome. I couldn't find my message for a while! I guess I have to get used to this new board. I am deff cooking more meals. I try not to ask hubby if he wants any fruit as he is not at that stage yet. Its amazing how little he eats now. He always has a protein drink in his hand or a bottle of water. I think I have lost weight just by us not eating out or buying soda anymore. I did sneak a treat today and yesterday. Hubby gets so disapointed in me. He is afraid I'll become diabetic and all that good stuff. Which he is on the right path. He is thinking about joining the group too. The support group he shoudl be going to is 1 1/2 hours away so he can't really go every week and it is during the day so he would loose too many work hours after being off work for 4 weeks. He was really sick the week before surgery. Then this week he still hadn't recieved some meds that he needs before going back to work. Well they finally came what yesterday i think. So...we are hoping to get back to " normal " what ever that my be now.

Guest guest
.....and a glaze with some sort of sweet glaze....damn what a crazy menu! Way to go on what you chose! I had lunch out with a friend/co-worker who invited me to lunch at Subway. I ordered a double meat grilled chicken sub (6 " ) with only mustard as the sauce. My friend got a 12 " club I think, probably with mayo and other sauces, a large cookie, a soda, not sure if there was a chip in there but probably. Damn! This dude is pretty big too. Well we're eating and talking and I'm reading the USA today. I'm glancing at his feast. I see that I'm about 2/3 through my sub and he's half way through his. He actually finished his before I finished mine, I think he took the cookie with him but it's all a blur of fast eating towards the end. He complained that he probaby should have just gotten a double meat 6 " sub like I did. Well yeah dude. Anyway, it's interesting to watch other people just slam the grub down and know that I could have EASILY blown them away speed-wise and probably done almost double what they're doing. I remember a little over a year ago taking down a 12 " sub and not feeling full, not even close. In fact I think I finished off half of one of my folk's 12 " back then. There's a reason they don't make an 18 " sub people. I try not to fixate on others, what they eat, how fast, how much and all that but it is interesting to think about after the fact and especially if they mention it. It's a totally different world for me now not depending on quantity and speed to feel full. Mike in GR > > I'm April. My hubby had RNY bypass Sept 25. He is doing good. Guest guest
I first had them in wraps and now get them toasted. I eat very slowly. Bread was a huge issue the first few months but, like I beat too death, after three months I was told anything goes and to be careful because of that. I still didn't really eat much bread until after probably five months. I don't eat much bread now either. Maybe subway every 2-3 weeks and a sandwich at home that often too or less. If I get breat I try to get as whole grain as possible and lite if it's available. I actually have a loaf of 12 grain bread in my drawer here at home. That's a lot of grains. Guest guest
Surgery date was Jan 20. Can't remember when my first subway sub was. I'd guess probably July. I do remember stopping half way through and just finishing up the guts with a fork. It's a very very very slow meal and one I often eat half of 3-4 hours later as an afternoon snack. > >> ....and a glaze with some sort of sweet glaze....damn what a crazy > >> menu! He was scheduled to have surgery in June in UT but due to an office manager that had issues it didnt' go through. We wait in UT, lived in MT at the time, for 1 1/2 months for the to finally get it. They would tell us a new date and then we would get there and they would tell us it was cancelled or whatnot. My hubby has a skeletal muscle reaction to most commond anesthesia. Guest guest
Maybe I'll brave 1/2 a ham & cheese sandwich one day. For now I just eat the ham & cheese. :-) Oh! And I was worried about gaining after my " big " lunch yesterday. I've finally broke past 293 & down to 292 this morning. I've been teetering on 293 for a week!
