Guest guest
I'm a lurker. My husband, Ken, has PSC. His sister just finished up testing to be a donor for him. Everything looks good and they have scheduled the surgery for Feb 5 at Hopkins. Can anyone who has been through this process/procedure (on either side) share their experience? What to expect, realistic recovery times for both etc. They mentioned that there have been cases where they took a portion of the donor's liver and then opened up the receipient only to 'not like what they saw' and wound up closing the receipient up and having the donor family decide what to do with the donated part of the liver. Has anyone been through that? Is there anything that can be done before surgery to ensure that doesn't happen? Or are there some things that just can't be seen until the person is opened up?? Thanks, Jackie
