Guest guest
My 82 yr. old dad is in the VA Hospital in Milwaukee. They found some spots on a cat scan of his lungs. So they will be doing further testing on those, and also a heart catheterization. Please, if you are a praying person, keep us in your prayers. I am so scared. I have strong faith, I've just never had to deal with very much death before. Jeanne in SE WI

Guest guest
Yes, his mind is all there. I spoke to him on the phone yesterday and he sounded better. His spirits were up at least, and he didn't sound as out of breath. It sounds like his doctors there at the VA are in disagreement about the problems. The pulmonary team think he has a heart problem that needs to be fixed first, but the cardiologist says no, he doesn't. And he said he doesn't always understand their medical language either. They put him on a diuretic and catheter to reduce swelling in his ankles and wherever else he is retaining water. I think they still want to scope his lungs to determine exactly what those spots on the cat scan are. My dad thinks it is just his emphysema, but we'll see what the test says. I wrote on the vent list how much he loves music, and he directs a barbershop chorus. Three of his chorus members went to the hospital on Sunday, and they got my dad in a wheelchair, and the 4 of them sang a few songs for the other patients. And he is worried he won't be released from the hospital in time to do small concerts that are planned for Friday and Saturday. I swear that chorus is really his motivation to keep living. Guest guest
Jeanne - that is great that he has his music - and his friends. That helps in keeping one's spirits up. Thinking good thoughts and sending up prayers for him AND you. Teri (central WI) Re: Re: Update on My Dad - OT Yes, his mind is all there. I spoke to him on the phone yesterday and he sounded better.
