US Autism & Asperger Association to Provide Live Streaming of World Conference

Saint Louis, MO, (September 27, 2010) - US Autism & Asperger Association (USAAA) will broadcast the first ever Autism/Asperger conference in its entirety live at the USAAA 5th Annual World Conference hosted October 1-3, 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri. Thirty of the world's leading autism experts will be presenting on new interventions, research and personal experiences. The conference will be held at the Hilton St. Louis Airport Hotel.

"This is a ground breaking event for the autism community worldwide," said Lawrence P. Kaplan, PhD, CEO of USAAA. "We were the first to broadcast a portion of our inaugural event in 2006. Because of our unique new conference format, we are able to provide live video streaming of the entire conference on Ustream.tv."

The three-day conference will kickoff Friday, October 1 featuring Medical and Research Keynote speaker Dr. Martha Herbert, an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. On Saturday, October 2, Dr. Temple Grandin and Dr. Shore, two of the most accomplished and well-known adults with autism in the world will be Keynote speakers in the areas of Learning and Sensory Problems and Behavioral/Developmental Approaches. Dr. Grandin will share her recent Emmy Award winning experience. The HBO movie "Temple Grandin" recently won seven Emmy awards including outstanding made for TV movie.

Dr. Shore, a self-advocate, recently returned from teaching in China and will examine promising approaches for educating individuals with autism to lead fulfilling and productive lives. Dr. Shore is a professor at Adelphi University and has presented at autism conferences on six continents. On Sunday, October 3, Advocacy Keynote speaker Areva D. , Esq., a Harvard-trained attorney and mom, will discuss the importance on parents ascertaining what's best for their child in terms of treatment and therapy. Areva is known to audiences across the country from her regular appearances on The Dr. Phil Show.

Participants are attending the conference from thirty-two U.S. states and from 6 countries. "There is nothing that replaces the overall experience of actually attending the event," said, Dr. Kaplan. "For those parents, educators, practitioners, students, individuals on the autism spectrum and everyone dedicated to improving the life of individuals with autism spectrum disorders who cannot attend the conference in person in St. Louis, we are proud to be able to offer the first ever live streamed event at no charge."
