Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've read about steatorrhea occuring with PSC. My frothy, floating, foul-smelling stools seem to have increased significantly since my ERCP, stent insertion, and starting the Urso about 8 weeks ago. My stools are not this way every time; I would say it ranges from once a day with 6 or 7 other 'regular' stools (which is completely loose and watery for me anyway), to 4 or 5 episodes of floating, frothy stools in a day. I've been trying remember what I've eaten when my stools do this, and on days when I seem to have this all day I have usually eaten something a bit more fatty than usual. Is this worth a mention to my hepatologist? Does it necessarily indicate there could be a fat-soluble vitamin deficiency, or is this fairly normal for those on Urso? Thanks, Genevieve UC 1983, J-Pouch 1999, PSC 12/
Guest guest
Absolutely (let your hep know) - they need all the information they can get. This has not been my experience (with Urso), but I have a fairly low-fat diet anyway (no gallbladder).
