LTD Disability and SS Disability

Dear Friends:

I really, really need your prayers today. I am having a horrible

time with my former employer and the company that bought out my

former employer. I have been ramrodded into COBRA coverage and now

the LTD carrier is now threatening to drop my salary coverage which

was supposed to last until I turned 65 (I am 49 now). Because one of

my docs checked a mini assessment that said that I can stand for one

lousy hour, the LTD carrier says that I can work (you figure). I too

have applied for SS disability coverage, 10/10/07, and still have not

received an approval or denial. I have hired and fired one attorney

about my issues who initially said that I had a case and then he

changed his mind after wasting 3 months. Here in Texas, we only have

180 days to get a case filed for disability discrimination so I only

have 3 more months to try and get some help. What am I doing wrong?

I have PSC, stage 3 kidney disease, insomnia, degenerative back

disease and a problematic stoma. Does this sound like someone who

can work?

I just had to vent today. Thank you for listening.

To those who have been posting about SS Disability, I thought this

might be a helpful resource:

http://www.advocacyforpatients.org/index.php

I know Jaff, Esq., who runs this not-for-profit organization

to help chronically ill patients in a multitude of ways, from an IBD

support website. (www.ibdsucks.com) She has done a lot to help SO

many people, and has been--literally--a lifesaver for a very ill friend

of mine. I recommend having a look at the website to see if you think

she can help you!

You should go back to your doctor, the one who filled the form out.

He or she probably didn't look at it closely enough. Or, you may

have been feeling better that day, so it may have made your doctor

optomistic when filling out the form. But you should go back, they

probably didn't know what a mess would occur. Also, another PSCer

added a link in another forward regarding how to fight for SS

disability and things. Just so you don't have to look for it again,

it's www.advocacyforpatients.org

Good Luck!
