Guest guest
The Daily Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/health/healthmain.html?in_article\ _id=510128 & in_page_id=1774 & ico=Homepage & icl=TabModule & icc=picbox & ct=5 reports: " Demi-Lee Brennan, 15, spontaneously switched from blood type O-negative to O-positive after taking on her liver donor's immune system. " So while her Rh factor changed, for transplant purposes her blood type did not. There are cases of livers from incompatible blood type donors being used - usually in cases where waiting will most likely result in the death of the patient. UNOS allots points for exact blood type matchs, so non-matching types have to have a higher MELD to " beat out " someone with a matching blood type. Patients also have to indicate if they are willing to accept incompatible blood type organs.
