I just dropped off my son, Blake, at Publix where he works with his class on

Tuesdays. While I was there, I noticed a man who was actually employed there as

a bagger. He was totally non- verbal, extremely involved, but doing a god job

bagging. I know that Publix hires people with disabilities, but this man was way

more involved than any other person I've seen. It reminded me that it is

possible to train our children to do meaningful work. I urge all parents to be

sure that their high school child has work settings like Publix included in

their program even if you think your child is capable of greater things then

Publix or if you feel that your child is too low functioning for anything like

that. You'd be surprised.

.......I totally agree. My son started working there 4 months ago part time while he attends college full time. Good for him on so many levels (getting out in the work force, meeting new people, earning a paycheck, getting off of the video games for awhile).TerriTo: Karp <deniseslist >Sent: Tue, November 29, 2011 10:42:21 AMSubject: Publix
