Hi Listmates;

The health insurance companies are slowly giving us agents information. I will pass it on as I receive it. On September 23, 2010 they HAD to start offering coverage to a child up to the age of 19 with pre-existing conditions. There are no disclosures as to the cost but I will guess the max premium would be the HIPAA guideline which is a max of 2.2 a standard rate. So a child that normally would cost $100. per month would top out at $220 based on underwriting. All of the companies stopped writing "child only" policies. There must be a parent on the policy with the child. It is my understanding they will insure the children, however that does not mean they will pay for everything. Cigna ONLY pays for speech therapy if it is a result of a cleft pallet. Golden Rule pays for speech and allows for a $36,000. max pr yr treatment for Autism or PDD. I strongly suggest asking the company for

clarification. All policies in Florida have a 10 day "freelook". Read the policy! I am available if you have questions.
