Guest guest
I don't get it, but I do. Unfortunatley because of all the drug abusers, dealers, dr's have started really going over there pt's history re-adressing the reason they have been on long term meds, and moving them on to pain centers, clinc's or whatever, as they are being clamped down on by the higher ups, and fear getting themselves into trouble for giving out these meds. I do not believe anyone should be in pain, and if our dr's believe in us, our disease when we need meds they should be given. I have been on vicodin, to long probably, but have come off it as it can cause liver damage, but what can't these days. and was not or did not the gobs of tylenol extra I took for along time to get through my work day hurt the liver? I also hear alot of Dr.are putting pt;s on contracts, making sure they only get so many a month, and sign in agreement will not be able to get any more before the next mo no matter what. I am on something like that only get 65, and can not get refills have to call each mo., though my dr. is great, and I have also been given a oxcycodone when things are real bad. To all that are suffering, keep looking for the Dr. who has compassion to the pain we go through and treat it; Take Care. and hope u get out of pain Sharon BRENDA ASH wrote: I agree I have been wotout pain meds for 6 months and it has made me reach a very painfull period now. I am switching Dr. our Fam has been to this Dr for over 15 years but enough pain is enough debra van ness wrote: I think it is almost inhumane to pull you off your real pain medication. Vicodin helps me and is the only thing that does. Of course, I have not been able to try Lyrica because of cost at this time. I have heard of people taking Gabapentin-- a.k.a. Neurontin. It helps some people with nerve pain.. that stabbing, burning, pins and needles pain. But I think most people also need an additional pain med with it. Alot of docs don't understand fibro even if they say they do. I don't think most of them read much up to date material on it to try to understand. That is unfortunate. However, I believe we are getting there at lease. Research is finally getting to the edge of the iceberg so to speak. I have read here about people taking methadone for pain. It seems some of them have had some success with it. Of course, your doc needs to realize that fibro pain is in many cases comparative to cancer pain and such. Then and only then can I see him prescribing Methadone. I hope that something gives for you. I hate to hear of people in this kind of pain without any meds to really help. hugs, Debra V. mering08 wrote: I am just over the top in pain. I have tried everything. I even had an appointment with a new doctor on Friday. He gave me gabetin. I have tried it before but did not help at all. I did well with vicoden. never misused it. never broke a contract. But, he want's to see it for himself. I don't think he really understands Fibro. It is so frustrating. On my online medical record thru Kaiser he listed my ongoing condition as smoking. He only asked me if I smoke and did I want to quit. I said no. Is there anybody else with pain meds or has anyone been put on methadone for pain? I litteraly can't sleep, I'm already taking antidepression and being in constant pain is really just making me more depressed. Any advice maru --------------------------------- Never miss a thing.
