Guest guest
Hi All, I was just recently diagnosed with vulvodynia although I've had symptoms for over 4 years - since I was 21. I've found that lowering my stress levels helps alleviate the intensity of flare-ups, but that's easier said than done. I mostly try to practice deep breathing, as well as yoga. I think the yoga also helps stretch out my pelvic, hip and inner thigh muscles which seem to be very tight. Does anyone have any other suggestions for stress relief or relaxation? Also, if anyone knows of a support group in Washington, DC I would be very interested. Thanks! -
Guest guest
Hi ,I'm not sure of any support groups in the DC area, but I'd say the NVA would know if there is one. ;-) (nva.org)Stress is definitely a biggie. It will either cause a flare up or add to one. What kind of symptoms do you have? That might help us give you some suggestions. If stretching helps...then maybe you would benefit from pelvic floor physical therapy. For me personally, using estrogen cream topically, doing PT and using antihistamines have helped. Be sure and look through the files and links on the homepage and you can do a search on any topic you'd like to bring up old posts. There is a ton of good info on the group! Hang in there...and welcome to the group! Chelle
Guest guest
Stress relief - I find that the self-hypnosis I learned for childbirth through Hypnobirthing helps me a ton. Very easy to learn. Good for lots of kinds of stree, not just childbirth. =) Melinda
Guest guest
I live in VA and woudl love a local support group, I think it would really help ppl to find local Dr. help etc. I created a yahoo group a while back for it but not a sinlge person joined. I know there used to be an IC group that met in person but that has been gone a while now.
Guest guest
I joined the nva at www.nva.org. The contact through the Baltimore area sent an e-mail to one of the ladies that was trying to start an online support group, but I never heard anything after that, and that was several weeks ago. I do hope you can find a support group in DC. If I do hear about any support groups I will post something about it. > > Hi All, > > I was just recently diagnosed with vulvodynia although I've had symptoms > for over 4 years - since I was 21.
