Guest guest
Hi all, Without going into a ton of detail, the spouse is in the middle of changing jobs, and I need to reschedule a heart cath. I'll be going to the hospital alone, and if anybody is nearby, I could use a prayer and kind thoughts while I wait for the procedure. I'm going to be dropped off at the hospital, and if the blockage in my valves is any indication of the condition of my pulmonary/aortic/triscupid, etc arteries, doc will be doing angioplasty/stent/whatever repair while he has me under anesthesia. I'm too high risk to put me under a second time, so it's all or nothing this time. If anybody lives relatively close and is able/willing to offer up prayers/ or sit with me while I am waiting for OR, I'd be very appreciative. I will give my DH's cell phone number to the nurse station to contact him when I'm out ofn the OR, and to call him next day when I'm being released. My cardio guy told me to plan on being in overnight. With DH starting this new job next week, he can't get time off so soon. Fingers crossed. girlsaylor
Guest guest
Jeribelle, What city and what hospital in south florida?? I live in Southwest Broward County! Would help if you are close by and I am available the day you go. I am also a nurse for last 25 years. However, I have been through a cath. myself and having my family there really helped. It is a always scary a bit to be in a hospital. How old are you If you don't mind my asking? Guest guest
Hi Jodi, Now aren't you a sweetie! Thanks for being so kind. I'm to have it at Broward General, 17th st Causeway location, in Ft Lauderdale. It's the closest hospital, which is good too. I'm 55, some days 55 yrs young, others 55 yrs old. hee hee Anyhow, we have transferred alot due to work, and I don't know anybody here, and have no relatives here. Now the next problem is the matter of health insurance. DH is changing jobs, and his current company may close. He won't have insurance at the new company for 90 days, which means our only option is Cobra, which we cannot possibly afford, but which we cannot possibly not pay for, with all my medical conditions. That would put me uninsured as well as uninsurable, and the new company's insurance carrier would be able to pretty much deny me coverage for 1-2 years (depending on FL laws), as I have heart/lung/high blood pressure/high cholesterol/depression/fibromyalgia...list goes on and on, so basically I would be uninsured for all my illnesses. Heck, I cannot afford even meds if I don't have script coverage. So, we don't even know if the current boss is even paying the health insurance premium, and if we do figure out a way to even pay the Cobra, there's no guarantee he will pay the insurance company. Then, if he closes the company, depending on the laws here, it may or may not be a felony if he doesn't advise us we no longer have insurance. I'm needing a couple of fillings, went to dentist yesterday. They didn't have time to do it, so we're doing it next week, and the dentist is billing the fillings as of yesterday's visit to make sure it is paid for. Nice people there. Also I will have to turn around and meet a second health insurance deductible this year. They refuse to credit me for the first one when we change health insurance companies. How's that for a kick in the chops? So, we're barely able to even put food on the table right now. Not sure what I'm going to not pay in order to pay that Cobra. I know I cannot get insurance otherwise, so it's my only option. I'm scheduled for pulmonary function tests also, and sure cannot pay for them out of pocket, on top of a heart cath. The other option is to just pay the Cobra to keep us insurable and then not have the cath til on the new insurance, just to minimize the risk in case the current employer isn't paying the health insurance premiums...clear as mud? I have to mull this one over a bit before calling to reschedule this heart cath. I have a script for bloodwork here, that I really should do tomorrow, whilst I still have insurance. If I go ahead and schedule the cath, is it OK for me to mail you privately with the date? Thanks! girlsaylor > Hi all, > > Without going into a ton of detail, the spouse is in the middle of > changing jobs, and I need to reschedule a heart cath.
