Guest guest
Hi , If you haven't already, seek out a good physcial therapist that works with pelvic pain disorders. Self pt refers to releasing the trigger points for the internal pelvic muscles. It's hard to distinguish at first what's normal/what's not and if you are doing it right or not. Basically, with one leg up, you reach in with your thumb and search for any tight spots. You should feel all loose with no resistance. If the muscles feel hard, then they are not relaxing. With your thumb you apply steady pressure on an area of tightness and then follow the muscle as it releases. Sometimes it just won't release and that's ok. This takes time. There is more than one muscle there so you have to search around to hit all of the spots. You should make sure to work both sides. I concentrated so much on my left side (because that's were most of my tension and pain was) that my right side ended up becoming tight. Now I make sure to work both sides. Dawn So, I'm wondering if anyone could describe the self PT exercises they do.
Guest guest
I know how to do PT at home but I wouldn't do it without have been to a PT first, she taught DH and I what to do - because the same things don't work for everyone, and not everyone needs the same exercises as others. The Happy Pelvis group has loads of info and advice on self-PT. Melinda
Guest guest
Hi , The instructions I found were called " Molly's self PT instructions.doc " Go to the yahoo group website, on the left you should see a column: " Home Messages Post Files Photos Links Database Polls " It's not under Messages, it's under " Files " - not quite half-way down the page. If you can't find it, just let me know, and I'll e-mail it to you. ~
