Medicaid question

I believe the answer is yes. When I applied for SSI for my son we had to provide all sorts of proof that we were broke in order to get it. When he was approved for SSI he was automatically enrolled in Medicaid.

Medicaid question

Is Medicaid income based? How does one go about applying?

Medicaid can be had 2 ways: either through the developmental disabilities/med waiver program due to your childs disability, which is a matter to take up with your local Agency for persons with disabities, google and find your area office. The only other way is through DCF as part of low income, the same program that gives food stamps. For that you have to apply through dcf if you have a low income. Those are the only avenues to medicaid.Sent from my Palm Pixi on the Now Network from Sprint

The medicaid waiver is separate from medicaid. You can apply for medicaid online here http://www.myflorida.com/accessflorida/ and there is also a prescreening to see if you qualify.

For the medicaid waiver you can find your local office here http://apd.myflorida.com/area/Also sometimes people make too much money to qualify for medicaid, but if your child receives SSI (even $1 a month) they still get medicaid.

You ought to call APD in your county and ask. I dont think its that simple, but I don’t think you necessarily have to be receiving SSI to get it. go to adp web site and call the one for your region and ask. My son gets medicaid only through having med waiver, because he has a disability.
