Guest guest
- Let me tell u my mom worked for a dentist all her life, she has always warned my and tried to get me to take well care of my teeth. But I don't go to the dentist like I should. I was traumatized by a mean man dentist when I was 5-6 yrs old, and I get not get the perinoia out of me just for a filling. One thing my mom did say if you have a tooth pulled, which she tried to prevent from happening, because everytime thhey had a cancellation, she would call me and see if I wanted to come in for cleaning, check-up or whatever else preventive they do. I have had teeth pulled and she said DO NOT GET DRY SOCKET!!! It is the worse that can happen, and you can run into real trouble, I never have but each time I read your post, I can only feel for you, because it must be bad. I will tell you, one time I needed a root canal which I said I would rather have it pulled as I did not like the sound of what they did to preserve the tooth in this form, well he numbed me so much because I kept feeling the pain, that at one point I thought I was having a stroke!, something happened in my head, and he had to stop, gave me more novacaine, and tried again. Well end of story he said he had never had anyone have so much, and still feel it, and I am not one of those that it doesn't work on, but just could feel everytime he tried do the nerve thing, I had to and have it pulled! Then last summer got the nerve to go for cleaning, and exam, sm. cavaity, had it filled, the tooth never was painfull, kills all the time off and on, went back to him, he checked it, says he is sorry but with because of my fibromyalgia, he thinks that liitle drilling as acted up the nerve sending it signals that I have something wrong with the tooth, and would suggest that it be pulled to stop the pain, as in is familiarness with this disease does not think it will stop sending the signal, at the time I went back I let him numb it again to stop the pain for awhile as did not need now a toothache with all the rest of the body. I have yet to go and get it pulled, actually have another one bothersome that he can not see anything wrong with and thiinks it might be cracked and needs pulling also!, I am scared now, has been to long, and I do not want anymore problems. I feel so bad for you, as you have got to be miserable. My dentist I have also been lucky with being very nice, and wish I had him as a child, I would not be so scardy cat!, but he has always told me don't ever not call, no matter what, and he will always see me if I don't have the money, don't let it stop me, he will bill me on payments. He also will and did give me lorazapam for visit. I feel so for you, hope you get this solved, and don't be afraid to call the dentist, he should realize with your FM this is a real issue and he needs to find relief for you. Would numbing it again stop the pain, or probably not a good idea with dry socket????? Get over this Quick, and feel bettter. I can't stand the thought of it for you. Take care. Sharon wrote: well I am in excrutiating pain again. Just filled the extraction site with orajel. I am afraid to call the dentist again and tell him this. The pain meds work alright, but 14 at a time is not enough. I take 2 every 6 hrs. I am frustrated, cause I do not understand what is causing this to heal so slowly and why am I having dry socket when I am not smoking. What to do? What to do? why am I so afraid to call the dentist? Maybe I don't want them to label me as a druggie? I am not being a wimp. Just want to be out of pain or at least comfortable. I am also afraid that one of the teeth next to the extraction site, one that is root canalled, cracked and crowned or the other that is neither is causing some of the pain from being exposed? Help? Hope ev1 else is doing alright today. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Quote of the Day " Don't let other people tell you what you want.
