My son is ASD, diagnosed at 4 1/2 at the Dan Marino Center. He also has behavior

issues and is LLD. He is 10 years old, in Broward County Public Schools in an

emotionally handicapped cluster. My son had private OT, pragmatics and tutoring

for about 3 years until my money ran out (all of it was out of pocket because

the insurance covered nothing.) He is in Broward County Public Schools in the EH

cluster and I'm 99% sure he is not working at grade level, no matter what they &

the FCATs tell me...we all know this is a battle left alone, LOL! The public

school system took away OT, offers very little for other services with the IEP,

so they are not my choice, but I am forced into it by an ex-husband who is will

not agree to a private school...for now until I take him to court to see the

light (but that is another post on another board " Women with a special needs

child who has survived a divorce from a man who doesn't believe his son is

special needs " .)

I digressed sorry :) I want to start over with evaluations and therapy but I'm

not sure where to begin again. I need independent educational testing, ABA, OT

and whatever I can provide for him. Whatever CMS will not pay for, I will cover

on my own, but I am a single mom and don't want to pay for unnecessary testing

and evaluations. I need a new baseline to see where he is at age 10 and renew my

dedication to therapy.

It was easy at Dan Marino, everything under one roof, but they are not a CMS

provider.

Big question, but I'd appreciate any input you have. Thanks!
