Guest guest
Hi, We live in Co. Galway in Ireland and I would love to to hear from anyone else in Ireland who has or has children with Verbal Apraxia. My daughter is 4 years 8 months. She has been dx'd with verbal apraxia. She has been receiving therapy, once a week, on and off for a year now. She now has around 30 words and a few two-word phrases. No sentences though. Not long ago she scored low an IQ test and was assessed as having a mild general learning disability. Because of this she now has to transfer to another department for therapy. The waiting list is horrendous and it will be at least 4.5 years before she receives any speech therapy. She started schools 2 weeks ago but a child with an IQ score of under 90 cannot be classed as having a speech and language disorder. This means she is not entitled to any help through the school system. We are on a waiting list to see a private speech therapist who has been recommended to us. She deserves so much more than is being offered to her. I would love to hear from anyone in Ireland who has experienced similar problems.
