Guest guest
Upcoming Autism Political Mess Angry, differences of opinion, abortion prenatal testing politics and who speaks for autism and just what are the perspectives. People with autism have different perspectives. Each should be respected and when opinions are not respected conflict arises. Here is the basic overview. 1.Who speaks for autisms? 2.Those with autism speak for everyone with autism or themselves and what about organizations for autisms? 3.What happens when those with autism and even those without autism presume a point of view. 4.What happens when special interests and mainstream political parties and agenda's get involved? The autism politics have been building up for some ten years to oppose mainstream perspectives. Some of it centers around abortion politics, comparing prenatal testing research to Hitler sometimes and people with autism are like the Jewish folks or in general human cleansing. Some say autism is the person some say autism is part of a person and others say entirely different things. Alienating the points of view of individuals with autism can even come from those with autism. You may be called ignorant or left out of social advocacy groups if you have a different opinion then the so called " aspie " perspective. As an individual with autism I have a unique view that I am not sure how many other self-advocates, parents and professionals have. My view is civil rights is a human right and diversity implies the inclusion, integration and participation of all view points. There is an angry mess ahead from some on sides. The attempt to respect, come to agreements and talk things through is feared by some advocates on both sides. I am offering the suggestion that no one will find a middle ground and those that want to fight the advocacy battles they want will do so. At least some want to be left out this conflict in the making and that is not liked by some hardened advocates. Remember in all of this confrontation quality of life is very important. I wish that everyone could be happy. Young Compassionate Integrations (C.I) http://www.compassionateintegrations.org 1- ext.
