Guest guest
What is VSL? VSL #3 I was wondering if anyone has experienced their child having nosebleeds on VSL #3. My son takes it and just started having nosebleeds about 45 minutes after being on it.
Guest guest
Hi there, My son is taking it in the mornings, probiotics very strong. He is fine with it till today. We already are in our second box. He is taking a half pack per day. Do you have a DAN doctor? It is important that you check it with the doctor at this point. Never heard of nose bleeding with it. My DAN Dr is Dr. Udell. He is really accesible and would answer an email if necessary. Let me know if you wnat me to ask him about this. Guest guest
My 6 yr old daughter has been taking one pack a day split in half in morn and at dinner. It's been about 3 months abd we haven't had any problems with vsl. We see dr Udell as well. He and his staff are amazing. He's in Weston. Guest guest
Jodi: was this the first time your son took VSL? That is an unusual reaction. He's not by chance on resperdal - that causes nose bleeds. I was wondering if anyone has experienced their child having nosebleeds on VSL #3. Guest guest
I've not heard of any link between probiotics and nosebleeds. Sometimes kids can have a random nosebleed due to dry nasal passages or undetected allergies... Sent from my iPhone I was wondering if anyone has experienced their child having nosebleeds on VSL #3. Guest guest
Risperdal does not cause nose bleeds. Try putting some AYR jelly in his nose. Guest guest
Hi. thanks for responding. No, he's not on Risperdal. He does have bacteria in his gut and allergies. I heard that probiotics can bring on allergies, which can cause nosebleeds. The reason they bring on allergies is that they are killing off the yeast so quickly. Guest guest
No, he took it a few times. It brings out a lot of allergy symptoms, which then lead to a nose bleed. He also coughs up the blood too. He was just diagnosed with a Factor IX deficiency. I know it kills lots of yeast quickly. He is now on ProBio by Klaire and he is fine but it still isn't addressing the backteria in the gut, which we see from the Comp Stool Test we just did from Great Plains Lab. Guest guest
He has allergies and we see Dr. Udell. he is aware. He just started the nosebleeds and they are definitely brought on by allergies and a scab in one of his nostrils, which he will rub, when he feels the allergy come on. He does O.K. with mild probiotics like Therbiotic Complete or ProBio but anything stronger he bleeds. Very odd... Re: VSL #3 I've not heard of any link between probiotics and nosebleeds. Guest guest
He's not on Respirdal or any other strong meds for behavior. He only takes a multivitamin now. I'm afraid to give fish oils or Vit E or D or anything else right now until the bleeding gets under control. If he doesn't take the VSL, he doesn't bleed, but he engages in a lot more verbal stim. He needs the VSL bec. the bacteria in his gut. So, it's a catch 22. Re: VSL #3 Jodi: was this the first time your son took VSL? That is an unusual reaction. Guest guest
Which bacteria did they find in the gut because certain bacteria requires something more than a probiotic? Guest guest
My son takes two packets a day of VSL DS and has never had any issues (other than some hyperactivity) with it. Guest guest
What strain of bacteria? My son takes two packets a day of VSL double strength and he still gets bacteria issues once or twice a year. We do about 15 days of Vancomycin and fluconozol and that usually kills it.
