Guest guest
Well Becky, welcome about the FM train! Sounds like you have a fantastic support system in place with your DH. Were you able to get SSD? I know a lot of us are fighting that battle right now (myself included); some with attorneys, some without. I don't quilt, but I crochet and try to keep busy. I have COPD (asthma/bronchitis kind) and allergies and they are constantly flaring each other, especially this weird winter in Georgia (already spent 9 days in hospital; they want to put me back in *but* the high cases of flu and pneumonia have them rethinking that so I don't end up worse!). I have been out of work since 12/06 for the bronchitis and was just recently dx'd with the fibro and COPD, so I feel that my disability case will start moving along now that my attorney has filed for a hearing. Do you take any meds for your fibro? I know folks who have had gastric bypass and I am not a candidate because I am a T2 diabetic now as well, but so far, maintaining and even losing weight despite the massive amounts of steroids they have me on so I can breathe. It can be a sucky world sometimes; I can tell you this is NOT what I envisoned for myself at 45. Not at all. But I do what I can, rest when I need to and I am working on NOT apologizing for getting to something, if that makes sense? There's some wonderful information on here; you may not be able to use all of it, you may be able to; it boggles my mind how very different this disease reacts to us all sometimes, you know? I usually flare just before a change in the weather, usually in areas that had old old healed injuries! Sometimes, I am wiped out by 2pm. It just depends. Anyhow, jump in. Don't be a stranger and again, welcome aboard! Guest guest
Hi Becky - Welcome to you. First of all, you are not lazy. You have chronic pain and fatigue, so don't ever call yourself lazy. Secondly there are a bunch of us here who have had weight loss surgery in an attempt to improve how we feel. My personal outcome was that it did not help me to lose the weight. Fatigue for me is worst symptom. Well, I still had very little energy even after losing 110 pounds. I slowly started regaining, so had a revision to become even more distal and when this did not help either, I turned back to my comfort of food. I run a Yahoo group for people dealing with both the issues of FM and WLS, as we will always have the problems of malabsorption to deal with.
