Guest guest
Hi all! I'm in a bit of a pickle. I've been having itching...it is the worst by my clitoris. It's been going on for about a week. I started out with some itching/tiny bit of pain there and then had sex and it got painful/itchy everywhere. I have no discharge that I can see (other than the fact that I am ovulating and have that). There is absolutely no odor. Just annoying itching. When I would spray Grapefruit Seed Extract on myself, the itching got better. I have had one BV infection (diagnosed) when my daughter was 6 wks old. I don't know if I have one now, b/c it doesn't sound like most of the symptoms that I see online. I can't afford to go to the doctor for this and I have no meds left here at home. Any ideas on how to figure this out. I've been bike riding with a special seat and hope that that isn't causing problems. It is a no pressure seat and it doesn't bother me at all when I am riding it...unlike others. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hey ,Itching can be caused by a few things. Most often yeast, but not always. Are you still nursing? Are you using any topical estradiol? The skin can thin and itch with lack of hormones. BV usually causes profuse discharge and odor...also, since you said the itchiness is around the clitoris have you checked under the clitoral hood to make sure there isn't anything there that might be bothering you. Dee has posted before on regularly cleaning the clitoris with a q-tip to free up any debris. Just a thought, anyway. I hope you get passed this soon...Take Care,ChelleFrom: ocnstuff Subject: BV? or something else? To: VulvarDisorders Date: Monday, September 1, 2008, 3:54 PMHi all! I'm in a bit of a pickle. Guest guest
, Have you ever been evaluated for pelvic floor muscle dysfunction? It's really weird how whacked out muscles can cause symptoms that are very similar to infections. The fact that the itching intensified after sex leads me to think that the muscles are involved. My muscles were so wound up at one point, I looked and breathed a massive yeast infection. At that point though, most of my distress was caused by chronically tight pelvic muscles. Have you looked into getting onto medicaid? It may not be the best, but at least it would be something. What bike seat are you using? I'm still kind of undecided about the bisaddle I've been riding with. It does let me ride but my overall position is not that great with it. It's too upright and I can't tuck into position comfortably. I find I'm putting way too much pressure on my hands and arms. You might want to be aware that riding can also tighten pelvic floor muscles. I do notice a tendancy of tighter muscles after riding. This doesn't cause symptoms right away, but if I don't tackle those muscles with self pt, I believe they would. I wish I had more to say to help you. Finding and affording a doc and/or pt can be hard. Dawn > > Hi all! I'm in a bit of a pickle. I've been having itching...it is > the worst by my clitoris. It's been going on for about a week. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Yes, I've been evaluated and have some issues. I saw Rhonda K three times and it turned EVERYTHING around. It all seems to have gone away, but I also haven't riden my bike for a week in case that contributed. I have the Schwinn no pressure seat. It's a much cheaper version of the Ergo " The Seat " that Rhonda had recommended and I could pick it up and try it since they sell it at Walmart. My husband loved it so much he had to get one too. It is a little harder on the arms/wrist, but it's worth not having the pain. I ride my daughter on errands and to the park about every day. The issue came up just after my period had ended too. I had been having great, pain free sex...even at the spur of the moment, before my period for about 3 weeks and was nervous trying again. I think that I will get back to okay soon. I appear to not have anymore itching at least 99.999% of the time. I'm going to try sex again. I probably need somemore skin rolling on the perineal tissues and to do some drops. I need to run. My class is about to come back. Oh, I was on medicaid temporarily, but now you have to make SO little, that there is no way we could survive on that little. So, we just have no insurance for now. in IL > > , > > Have you ever been evaluated for pelvic floor muscle dysfunction?
