Guest guest
Does anyone know what the allowable time is for school observations? I was told today that due to the teachers contract, a parent is only allowed to observe for 1 hour per school day. Is this correct?Thank you.RM

Guest guest
I think parents can observe up to 45 minutes, but you have to give the teacher " fair and ample " warning (48 hours) that you want to observe, and they get to pick the time of day they will let you observe. And yes, all this is per teacher's Union, as far as I've been told. Does anyone know what the allowable time is for school observations? Guest guest
It's in the Broward Teachers Union contract under interruptions: From page 14 Broward Teachers Contract: http://www.broward.k12.fl.us/employeerelations/BTU_PDFs_for_Website/BTU%20Contra\ ct%2008-09.pdf O. Interruptions to Teaching: Unauthorized personnel shall not be allowed to interrupt or otherwise disturb an employee during the performance of his/her professional responsibilities. Observations of an employee's class by persons other than school system personnel shall be allowed only after consent has been granted by the principal or his/her designee, notification to the employee, and proper security clearance has been granted. The visitation shall be scheduled no sooner than two (2) workdays after notification, except in extenuating circumstances as determined by the affected principal. Such observations shall be no longer than one (1) hour in length. Upon request, a building administrator shall be present in the employee's classroom during the entire observation period. Parents are interruptions, but any school or district staff can come and go as they please. Steve > > > ** > > > > > > Does anyone know what the allowable time is for school observations?
