Guest guest
Char, As part of my insurance approval a psych. evel. was required. I met with a psychologist on three seperate occasions. I also had to take the MMPI ( I don't know what the initials stand for, I'm sorry) it's a true/false test that has 500 questions. I also spoke to the pyschologist about the life changes that will occur because of WLS. From my understanding it's just to see it your psychologically ready for such a life change. I felt the whole thing was quite painless. I hope this info helps. Take Care Open RYN 4-7-03 351/298/???

Guest guest
" Now all trophies but B and D mixed in. I have been eating almond flour bread/muffins, chicken, pork, ripened banana with honey and cooked veg so far but not seeing too much clearing up of the B & M. " , If you are still seeing B, D and M at times, I think it's too early to be using almond flour. Try going back to eating foods like squash, well-cooked green beans, bananas, applesauce, avocados, cooked fruits (no skins or seeds)... Stay there until the B, D and M clears up. Look on pecanbread.com on the recipes page for some ideas for some variations on what to do for things to eat before you add nut flours. There are chicken pancakes, chicken cupcakes, sneaky veggie pancakes and different ideas. You can make the green pudding without the nut butter. That's a sweet and filling snack. I know the baked goods are sooo yummy and tempting, but give yourself more time to heal before you add them back again. Once you are considering trying some, try making the recipes that call for nut butters rather than nut flours. We've seen the kids able to tolerate the nut butter items more easily than items made from nut flours. Toss your almond flour into freezer safe bags and store it there until you're ready to use it again. It will stay nice and fresh that way. Guest guest
Hi , How long have you been on the diet? Many have reported that blood is the last symptom to go. If you are still having d and m then you might not be ready for some of the things you are eating. Did you start with the intro and gradually add foods in? Did you have any relief from the mucous and diarrhea (with solid stool)? Guest guest
Sheila, Thanks for your reply. I started with the intro for 3 days. That was about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I haven't had any D since the diet. I had some pre-scd when I ate a little too much cr@p one day. I saw a little progress in my stool the first week. I then added some almond bread and bought and had some fruit leather and made the peanut butter brownies. I guess my problem is that I don't have any physical pain so my only indication that things are better is with the B and M. I think I'll go back to the intro and wait until it is gone. I just bought some pears so I think tonight I'll be cooking some up for the next few days to eat. Is pork OK on the intro diet? Of these three items the fruit leather is the most likely culprit (concentrated dried fruit is not great for newbies) and then the peanut butter and lastly the almond bread. Elaine recommends almonds or pecans as the first nuts to be tried. Some have to wait a while until they are ready for them and then try a little made from blanched almond butter (usually homemade almond butter because it is difficult to get blanched) or pecan butter. After that you should slowly add some cooked peeled fruits and vegetables. Dried fruit is for much farther down the line. > Is pork OK on the intro diet? Pork isn't on the intro put you can add it after. Sheila, SCD 50 mos, 21 yrs UC mom of , SCD 35 mos
Guest guest
So, I have been fighting this cold (I am just now admitting this-I have been trying to pass it off as allergies for a few days now). My question, how worried should I be about giving this to my brother. He was just transplanted in Dec. in Texas-- Some of my crazy lil' blogs & website....www.ancestralroots.blogspot.comwww.savedusty.blogspot.com www.mycrazylilworld.blogspot.comwww.mtmcreationsonline.com
Guest guest
What my transplant team told me was to be careful, but not to let fear of colds etc. keep me from living my life. I've had one cold now, and it really wasn't a pleasant experience, but I did eventually get over it. My doctors did want me to be more careful early on though, since immune suppression is relatively high then and the body is still recovering form the surgery (and the illness). So be careful: use hand sanitizer, wash hands etc. and try to avoid physical contact.. you really can avoid transmission of colds by taking measures like this. While I've had only one cold since transplant, my kids and wife have had three or four colds each. Now if I could just get them to be careful too! Hope that helps! athan
Guest guest
Ken has had 1 cold. He caught it from me – and I am very careful. Unless you want to lock yourself up and live like a monk, ~^*`~ happens. Because he is on Coumadin, every time he blew his nose he’d have a bleed. It took him a little longer to get over it and he was very uncomfortable, but he’s over it now and looking back it wasn’t as scary as we thought it would be. Texas has a new flu bug going around, I advise any Texans to go to the doctor if you think you’ve caught it. It’s supposed to be awful. Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes!
