Guest guest
A proposed new Charter middle and high school is planned to be built by the Somerset and Doral Academies of Broward and Miami but there are no specific plans to address the special needs community. This new school is proposed to hold up to 2000 students but there are no plans to build any special sensory rooms or social skills programs for kids who suffer from Autism. There is a definite need for a special school to house our kids, especially with so many of these kids getting ready to enter middle school within the next 2 years. The urgent needs to include classrooms and social groups within this new West Boynton Beach school area needs to be added to the proposal. Many of the parents residing within the West Boynton Beach area have to commute with their kids atleast 30 miles away to specialized schools in West Palm and North Palm Beach. The district at many times is not offering free bus service to these areas and is preventing us as parents the ability to work a full day at work.
