Guest guest
, You crack me up. I'll have to remember to ask my coordinator if I can take the VSL#3. I'm 4 wks. post transplant and beginning to have UC issues (as of two days ago). I'm waiting to see if I can take the Azulfadine again, but I'd rather just take the great probiotic you mentioned and see if I can stay away from the Azulfadine a bit longer. I was told that not everyone is required to go back on their UC medicine, to wait and see. I guess because the Prednisone helps to keep it under control. Well, here's to fewer #2s for all UC patients (including me!)! Hugs, Who's never won? Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Guest guest
Thanks, athon, that gives me hope!!! I've been doing so well since surgery, and I'd love to get this little glitch under control and go back to healing nicely! (MO)Who's never won? Guest guest
<<, That's great news! Tell Fred congrats on the obedient colon - go Fred, go Fred.>> Actually , it's NO Go Fred, No Go Fred! He's going less, and enjoying it more. And yes Dave , VSL #3 means fewer #2s. Other VSL#2 answers: Fred drinks the powder that comes in the packets. He started at four a day for a month, now down to one a day. His VSL#3 research said that if the product doesn't work in a month, it's probably not going to work. Fred started to see results (or NOT see results as the case may be!) after three weeks. Other research has shown that VSL#3 puts 80% of UC patients into remission. His dr. did write an rx, but insurance said " no. " I think insurance companies would rather pay for the colectomies and numerous other hospitalizations/surgeries/medications that are often required for severe UC and Crohns. It's also possible they haven't done the research. But they NEED TO! If VSL# could stop Fred's poop dead in its tracks, well folks, that is a story that needs to be on the national news. Forget Super Tuesday - let's make it Pooper Tuesday! (Poop-less Tuesday?) Media handler for, and wife of, Fred Hussey, PSC 03/04, UC 03/06, in remission 02/08. The VSL#3 was ok'd for me by my transplant people. At first the nurse sounded dubious (she'd never heard of it) but she checked it out and said I could take it. (I just got my new shipment in, and I'm chugging it as I type! The taste isn't exactly pleasurable, but it's certainly worth it!) athan
