For those of you who are Americans with IBD...

I urge you to visit the following link, and read the Patient Comments

Document.

http://qurlyjoe.bu.edu/patientcomment.htm

It is self-explanatory once you read the site and the document, but

in a nutshell: a friend from 'IBD Sucks' (another online support

community I belong to) is trying to help change how patients with IBD

are recognized in the Social Security Administration, should any of

us need to apply for Social Security Disability in the future. This

document will be sent to the SSA Commissioner with the electronic

signatures of as many IBDers as we can find. We are trying to use

our collective voice to change policy--our right, and responsibility

as Americans!! If you agree with the Patient Comments Document, I

urge you to send an email to the address provided at the above

Website, with the following information: your name, city and state,

and the titles of your diseases. No subject for the email is

required, and these signatures will all be compiled into one large

document, and submitted with the Patient Comments Document to the

SSA. For example, my signature read:

Genevieve Felts Meyer

Dyersburg, TN

Ulcerative Colitis leading to total colectomy with J-Pouch, chronic

recurrent pouchitis, and chronic small bowel bacterial overgrowth

Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

Please, please take the time to read this document (it's about 5-6

pages) and send in your electronic signature if you agree with it!

Again, the website is:

http://qurlyjoe.bu.edu/patientcomment.htm

Thank you!!

Genevieve
