Guest guest
Many transplant programs have recomend antibiotic before dental proceedures because of immunosupression. Many people recieved antibiotic because of heart murmurs or abnormal heart valves. The new guidelines from the American Heart Association for antibiotics before dental proceedures is much narrower than previous guidelines. It appears that bacteria entering the blood stream from dental proceedures occurs 10 to 100% where as brushing and flossing it occurs 20-70% of the time. Now the only conditions are: artifical heart valve certain congenital forms of heart disease Valvuloplasty after cardiac transplant. Don't take my word for it. A reveiw of the recommendations can be found at: http://ccjm.org/ccjm_pdfs_toc/Feb08_Kim.pdf
