It is just part of a comprehensive approach that has to include behavioral therapy, speech therapy, sensory processing integration, pragmatic social skills training, and a good academic program that will maximize the learning time by individualizing the educational needs of each student. All of these components are necessary for our kids to be able to live a happy, healthy life at whatever independent level possible. You can also throw in other therapies like HBOT, Infrared sauna therapy, and don't forget fun things like trips to the park and pool. We as parents can not neglect ourselves in this process because after all, we have to live forever, right? Back to the whole DAN Dr. thing, we went through 4 DAN Dr.'s before we found our right fit. You have to give it some time and try a lot of different supplements before you get the mix just right. Keep your faith, trust your gut instincts, and keep an open mind. There is no one size fits all so you will need to try lots of things before you find the right fit. I think I can fit in one more cliche: this is not a sprint, it is a marathon so pace yourself. If I had to pick one thing that I think has made the biggest difference in my son's life (besides my love for him), it would be his ABA therapy. Is you son getting any kind of behavior therapy? There are others like DIR/Floortime, Son Rise, etc. In my personal experience ABA is the best but I have heard a lot of parents rave about the Son Rise program as well. Additionally, HBOT has been very beneficial for us as well. Re: DAN Docter Dear Group: I used to take my son to the Dan Marino, but they were nasty in most cases. After I while I felt like I was wasting my time and money. When my son went in to see "Dr. Opal" she asked my son questions and was shocked that he didn't want to answer her questions...this coming from a doctor specializing in autism...how shocking...he doesn't want to speak??? They never recommended that Ari should do bloodwork or anything...They were not very helpful, but were great at taking my money. Now we are under the care of Dr. Clayman. He has prescribed a lot of vitamin supplements. I haven't seen any improvement. Anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks, Sandy
