Guest guest
I know I'm still new-ish and all but I am wondering about the meld thing. I've seen it mentioned and read online about but I'm just curious. Is this something that they will look at when you have check ups with your hepatologist or is it just something for when you are getting like stage 4 or whatever? I read someone say that they were stage 4 with near normal LFTs and that's just what worries me. I have more pain and itching but since increasing my URSO my LFTs are pretty much normal (alk phos only 138!). I don't know, just curious I guess. I will be seeing my hepatologist in April (unless I get cholangitis again b4 then). Thanks guys! PSC 8.07 PBC 10.

Guest guest
> > I was wandering what a meld score is and what it indicates. As described by UNOS, " The Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) and Pediatric End-Stage Liver Disease (PELD) are numerical scales that are currently used for liver allocation. The MELD and PELD scores are based on a patient's risk of dying while waiting for a liver transplant " . http://www.unos.org/resources/meldpeldcalculator.asp A MELD score is calculated from the lab values for bilirubin, creatinine and INR (a calculator is available at the UNOS web site above). Guest guest
Those of us who refer to the U of M should specify which M we are referring to. The REAL U of M, Minnesota, or some other one. (Don't bother to respond. We all know our own M is the real one.)
