Guest guest
Hi, Check out http://thepuzzlingpiece.com/ If you sell 60 autism items for this non-profit, they will send you an ipad. My client already got her first ipad and is working on the second one. (She has 2 girls with autism.) She got friends, neighbors, relatives involved in helping. Guest guest
We have been successful in getting them through the schools for many students. It's not just an AAC device. It can be used in many ways to help our children with their academics, socialization, organization, scheduling, note taking, behavior, articulation, language development, etc. And of course, it is an awesome tool for those children who need help with expressive communication. In approaching the school for a device=DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Know exactly which apps that you feel would be appropriate for your child before you go to the meeting. If you do this, you will find that you know more than many of the staff as the technology is still fairly new. Then you can talk intelligently about the application. WARNING: If you are able to get your child a device, the school system often disables the Internet capabilities, which is a real drag, but often necessary so that our child stay focused on school. However, if the need to use the Internet is part of the IEP goal, then it won't be disabled.
