Guest guest
Have any of you taken Melatonin to help with sleeping problems? or Clonidine for sleeping problems? Tyler has trouble sleeping. His doctor is thinking of adding one of these to help with his sleep. She's thinking that if he gets better sleep that it will help with his fatigue. Guest guest
I used melatonin before my transplant (with Dr. permission) and it helped a lot. The only thing I had to be careful about was not taking too much. Since it's metabolized by the liver, even a small amount would make me drowsy into the next day. Now that I've had my transplant I can't take it any more due to interactions with the drugs I'm on. Of course I'm not really having sleep troubles now like I did before the transplant, so it's not a problem! athan No virus found in this outgoing message Checked by PC Tools AntiVirus (4.0.0.20 - 10.060.001). http://www.pctools.com/free-antivirus/
Guest guest
Remelteon is a prescription melatonin analog that has an advantage over melatonin in that absorbption is better and it works much better for sleep. Most sleeping pills make you feel drugged but this one doesn't. I don't know if it has been tested in children. (I doubt any sleeping medications have been tested in children). This is off subject, but; It doesn't work for everyone, especially if they are used to the prescription sleeping pills that " knock you out " . It works well for jet lag sleep problems and has a clean side effect profile. There is a warning in using it in severe liver disease probably because it is metabolized by the liver. I took my chances and used it before transplant to try to get to sleep before the itching ruined the night. Von
Guest guest
Hi there, I'm a lurker and post very rarely, but I do take melatonin. I find it helps me sleep without the drowsiness the next day. However, my body does get used to it after about a month or so and then I have to go off of it for a couple of weeks and then back on. If you do decide to try it, you may have to experiment with the dosage. Eileen > > Have any of you taken Melatonin to help with sleeping problems? or > Clonidine for sleeping problems?
