Guest guest
I am ready to begin mailing out letters for the Road to ville. Many thanks to Lee, Reggie and everyone who is encouraging us to participate in this great way to raise funds for PSC research. Last year we had 12 people who signed up for the 2007 Virtual Walk. We raised additional funds at the PSC Conference in Denver. But, amazingly, with only 12 key people, we raised $26,441 last year. $23,000 was donated towards research last year! And so far this year we have raised more than $41,000 with the RTJ. In addition to donations of money, knowledge and awareness of PSC grows with every contact we make with others. Every contact we make helps spread the word and educate about PSC, the disease, the effects on an individual and their family, and PSC Partners quest for a cure. We are and will continue to make progress! Some people have resources to raise lots of donations. But, every individual donation is important, as they all contribute to the total number of dollars we have available for future PSC research. I hope you too will participate in the RTJ this year! Every donation makes a difference. I am starting out by revising Deb Wente's letter for my family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. In all honesty, I hate asking others to donate to any cause. But, first and foremost, what better cause to ask people to help with than a rare illness, which affects my son, and a disease with no curative treatment. And, second, in the past two years, I have been overwhelmed with such a wonderful response from friends and others - people want to donate towards something with meaning. Knowing who is affected by PSC means that their donations have a personal touch and are valued. I started this post simply to ask what the most current number of dollars is for the RTJ. Then I wanted to share with everyone my excitement for this project. I was astounded that we raised over $25,000 last year. And to think that we are over $41,000 this year. At first I thought we would not succeed with the $100,000 goal. Now, I believe it is very possible. So, I will revise my letter today! Do we have a more recent update on the RTJ numbers or shall I use the $41,136 figure? Thanks! Guest guest
When you say 12 people signed up, you mean sent in donations right for the RTJ. Or is this something separate? We have done a mailing and have had some success , I think we are at about $1,300 so far. But, if we can do more,. we want to in recognition of our son Tyler's PSC, age 10... Guest guest
Stevie - I was referring to last year's 2007 Virtual Walk, when 12 people signed up to participate in the walk. There were many, many more donations spearheaded by these 12, plus individual donations gathered at the Denver Conference. Many thanks for what you have done so far in the Road to ville. Our progress is so great - We are in Illinois!!!! On to ville (all of a sudden I had a recollection from the Wizard of Oz - jumping into the hot air balloon - sorry... it's been quite a long day... but again if we made it to $100,000 in donations this year - WOW!).
