My 4th grade son attends private school for children w/ adhd high funct. aut. He

has been there 3 years. Attended public school in kindergarten, huge nightmare.

Private school has been working, but I am not sure it is the best placement for

him. He srtuggles with acedemics in all areas. Has learning diabilities in

math, works below grade level in reading. He does better w/ 1:1 teaching. He is

not productive when given seat work in regular classroom. Writing is almost

impossible, typing not much better. I do not expect him to catch up, but I just

want him to be in a setting that is working the best for him.

His social skills are good, and behavior is ok ( continues to be easily

frustrated, gives up easily, shuts down when faced with challenge).

Just wanted to put it out there and see if anyone had some advice.

Thank you,

It doesn't sound like he's going to be able to access the curriculum with any success. It sounds like he needs a more restricted environment with more 1 on 1. By 4th grade everything is more abstract which is going to present a problem for him. Can he get resource time which would give him more one on one? AND can you get him some one on one tudoring? And how about more accommodations for him? More time to finish, preferential seating, more visuals for learning....Does he have an IEP? These might be issues in a private school. The school district will provide all these things if you have an IEP because they legally have to follow that...in a private school they don't have to.

If you are interested in any biomedical work to help increase focus and concentration contact me. That's another way of approaching the situation to help him survive in school. ... www.pHtestlab.com

No we have no CPT code for this test. The test is $250 the first time which includes your test kit, results, a dietary and nutritional protocol to address the issues on the test and a consult. The second test is $200. Testing is usually every three to four months depending on the child. It's urine and saliva, but most of the kids can't give enough saliva, so we have the parents us a pH paper for the saliva. No blood.
