Guest guest
I agree with u. As before I had to stop working, I was a med tech. and thinking back, I know some of my patient's were on Xanax and given this antibiotic, and never do I remember d/c the xanax while giving them the other.???? Don;t u just love it when the DR, P.A tell u something like this and can't give u the what kind of reaction it will cause. hope your better soon. Well, for his info....(He is a P.A.- not my real doc)... I have given these drugs together for years. I have never seen anyone hurt by it or keel over and die. And I can find almost nothing on the internet about it. I believe I have taken it before while I was on Xanax. Ok... Azithromycin is similar to Erythromycin which is one of the oldest antibiotics. Also I want to know if he thinks that some nice Xanax withdrawals after 5 days cold turkey would be the best thing to do. Whatever. I have seen it prescribed many times to people on Xanax with no problem. I also presume he thinks I take Xanax just for the hell of it and don't need it. Needless to say I am taking the crap together. I am about to fill it because I guess I won't get over this crap without something. Just venting. And by the way, he does not know I am a R.N. either. He looked at me like " what would make you ask this " ?????? duh. Alright, if I keel over you will all know it is because I did not listen to him. love and hugs, Debra V. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
I don't know exactly what planet he just fell from, but here on earth it does not seem to be a problem taking these two together. LOL. Well, he is a very nice man. I am just a little rattled about his comment. Who knows too, he has some computer system there that might have pulled up some very uncommon interaction and just has to warn me about it even if it is highly unlikely that it will occur. Thanks, hugs, Debra V. sharon studley wrote: I agree with u. Guest guest
Some of these doctors, or other medical personel think that we patients can't possibly be educated about stuff, and he obviously didn't know Debra was a nurse. Maybe he had a brain fart and was getting something mixed up regarding drug interactions. There are so many out there, and drug names similar, it would be easy to confuse something. Guest guest
I tend to use www.drugdigest.org to check for drug interactions, and with these two the only thing that came up is something we all know, Xanax and alcohol. That was it. I like this site because it also let's you check for herbal remedies too for interactions.
