The Arc of Palm Beach County would like you to know about the following: BIG PAL LITTLE PAL & GRANDPARENTING PROGRAMS Is your child between the ages of 6 and 17?Are you a single parent or a family needing additional social supports? Can your child be available six hours a month to be with a mentor?Would your child benefit from having someone to talk to and to join them in activities in a mentoring community -someone who can be trusted as an older friend? Then this program may be for you! Big Pals are aged 25 and older, and Grandparents are aged 55 and older. These trained mentors spend a minimum of six hours per month with their child, and they arrange a variety of outings to participate in with their " match " after school and/or on weekends. All arrangements are cleared with the parent(s). The mentors are carefully screened before being selected for this program. Criminal background checks, motor vehicle driving history and personal references are required, as well as an in-depth personal interview with the Big Pal Mentoring Program Coordinator and/or Director of Volunteer Services. Program staff monitors and supports the matches and offers ongoing training and supervision. Group activities and events are scheduled throughout the year for all matches to enjoy.Be a Pal! Get a Pal!This wonderful program is offered through Jewish Family Services in Boca Raton, Florida.
