Falling asleep at work is one of the reasons I ended up taking

disability. I'd be sitting at my desk working and drop off to sleep.

At first it happened mainly in the afternoon, but then I started falling

asleep by 10:00 am and I realized that there was something really

wrong. The only way I could stay awake was to get up about every

fifteen minutes and take a walk. When I took disability it really

helped, because I could take a nap if I needed one, and then I could

function OK.

I think it was associated with the time when my liver had accumulated a

significant enough amount of damage that it was starting to seriously

affect it's performance. It was also about that time that I had a

variceal bleed, and ended up listed for transplant, although it was

another 6 years before I got the transplant.

When someone doesn’t

feel well it seems almost everything causes stress of one kind or another. Getting up and to work on time, working

overtime if needed, getting projects finished on time, finding something to wear,

etc. etc. One of the advantages of going

on disability (IMHO) is; the day to day stress of working completely disappears.

I “think” you’ll

find you actually feel better when you can stay at home, nap when needed and eat on your own time frame. Don’t be surprised if you see a

slight improvement on your labs too.
