Good Morning,

I had my first meeting with my Hepatologist in L.A. the other day and

we went over a lot of the transplant info. I will be listed at UCLA

and wondered if anyone has any info. or experience with them? I have

Kaiser ins. and they have their own team that does the full testing to

get listed and once Kaiser lists you then they send you to UCLA.

This Hepatoligist agrees with my other Dr. that I will probably need

a Transplant in about 2 years due to the fact that all my ducts are

completely blocked, my platelets are slightly low and my spleen is

enlarged. He thinks without a Liver biopsy (I'm scheduled for that)

based on my platelets and spleen that my liver has moderate damage. He

did say however that since they were able to get a catheter in my

Common Bile Duct and baloon dilate it, that it would be possible to

hold me off for more than 2 years. So I know it's nothing to change my

life over.

Anyway, if anyone has experience with UCLA, I would love some info.

thanks,

I underwent

transplant evaluation with UCLA in January and have been medically accepted for

transplant list.

I was diagnosed

in 2005 (after about a year of trying to figure out what I had) and have had a

bad time with symptoms for about the last 18 months.

Just out of curiousity, who is your Kaiser hepatologist? I see Dr. Victor Wu, who is the head of hepatology at Kaiser Sunset. I haven't been listed yet.Marie
