Guest guest
You poor girls with the swelling. I was awake last night with my calves, but it was muscle soreness which I have had for mo's can not stand the feeling of them flat on bed, or anywhere else! I have laid them on heating pad which helped, but have burnt it out, as have used it 24/7 on some part of my body. But I was wondering if u are able to wrap your legs in moist warm towels, and then ice packs when they get like this??? I know this has worked for clients I have taken care of in the past. ???, of course there may be some reason u are not allowed to do this, so would do u no good, but it feels good if u can. I over do everything when I am in pain, and forget about the 15 min thing. I also have a tens unit, and use to wear it around the clock exspecially when working, and would crank it up until my body was jolting all over, would have co- workers laughing because of the involuntary jerks I would put myself through, but to much pain! I could laugh about it still back then but not now! I have been insane with calves and back, hip, pelvic bone pain now, exspecially when in bed and have been lucky enough to fall asleep. I hope your legs get down and u can get out of pain from them. Take Care and stay off them as much as possible until they go down huh? sharonddean228 wrote: Well, I'm convinced the flare is from the swelling. Had swelling last night and took 1/2 a lasix and propped up my legs. Managed to sleep until 5ish when my legs woke me up so I got up and showered while I could, put on the TENs unit, took the anti-inflammatory and also the muscle spasm meds as well as the Lyrica. It seems to all be kicking in. I definitely plan to call my PCP et al tomorrow. I am at least breathing better....lolol..... And Jeanne? I really really don't want to go back to the hospital only because our 2 littles that we adopted last saw their bio mom when she went into the hospital to have their younger half brother. Really messed with them when I was in; they were afraid I was never coming home. I would be better off dragging an IV pole around the house, you know? At least they could " touch " me. I'm still wiped out; plan to nap after church today. No running. No nothing. Just rest and crochet and keeping my legs up up up! (((((Hugs))))) Darlene > > OMG Darlene! That sounds completely horrible. My dad also is having a retaining fluid problem, but nothing to that extent. > I know they want to keep you out of the hospital because of the germs, but couldn't they put you in isolation or something? I'm scared for you. You're in my prayers. > Jeanne in WI > See I have been retaining fluid for an unknown reason. Since they released me from the hospital, they switched my diuretic from lasix (which wasn't working that great but was working) to something called bumex (initially 1 tablet, didn't work so a tab and half). Anyhow, > last night, we looked at my legs and all we could see were tree trunks with little bitty toes. > > Some time around 1 am, DH woke up to me moaning and crying in my sleep (I hadn't woke up yet). At 2, I woke up and attempted to get out of bed and nearly fell. I popped 2 darvocets and laid there moaning, which of course woke him up. He got my legs propped as high as they could go but all I could feel was that thrumming from my hips down, with excruciating pain. As someone who has had 2 major abdominal surgeries and one completely natural childbirth, this was > the absolute WORST pain I have ever ever felt. > > He got my stuff for inflammation and also spasms and I took those too and fell asleep for a little while, only to wake up again around 4:30 in agony again. He rubbed my legs (OMG did that hurt *but* he was hitting some trigger spots so it helped me out some). We located my tens unit and got me hooked up and he got me into the back room. > > I have to say I wailed and cried like a baby. In fact, at times, the pain was significant enough that I couldn't even articulate or cry. And there he was, laying over me, crying for me and the pain I was in. It was bad enough I wanted him to get the chainsaw and lop off > my legs at the knees, maybe higher. > > Well, the pain is abating some now. I have so many drugs in me that I should be sound asleep and I guess I'll be taking more shortly. I did decide I would take the lasix for a few days and see if I can get the swelling down which I believe is a direct contributor to this whole flare. > > But my question is - what does everyone else do in this situation? I also grabbed another Lyrica even though I am only set for 2 150 mgs a day. I may take another one later on and then one at bed time. I still have the TENS unit on (have moved it down to my knees area > where it seems to be giving the most relief. > > (((Hugs))) > Darlene > > >
